FeaturedCommentsThx so much Michael! I love trains!! So glad you like my gallery. Thank you for the kind words, too. I am going to take a better look of yours this weekend...during the week, I just have no time.
You're very welcome. When we make it to Tahoe each fall, I try to plan a day to go up to Donner Pass. There is so much train history there it makes my head spin
I guess I need to get up there, I am not sure why I haven't...I have been to Truckee train museum (not much to see). Have you rode the V&T to Virginia City, or gone to the Pocatello Train Museum (an hour north west into Cali from here up 395), if not, you need to. I am surprised you haven't faved any of my trains yet...
The coolest thing for me is being able to walk on the old grade for the original Transcontinental Railroad which was the #1 track between Truckee and Norden....tunnels, snowsheds, and the history there is overwhelming. I so wish the UP would open the #1 track back up and build a museum up there....wonder if they'd let me if I won the BIG lotto?
We have gone to the Nevada State Railway Museum in Carson City, and drove to Virginia City (didn't have enough time that day to take the train). Can't find this museum up 395 you mention....The Pocatello Train Museum? Which town is it near? For the favs, sorry, I am way behind....as I look up to the top of my My bad...I meant to say Portola Train museum. Their page is not up or I am having problems getting it to open. Here is Wiki info on it. [link]. I understand the whole not having enough time...4000, eeeek! I have never had that many to look at!
I would love to hike the #1 track between Nordan and Truckee! Yee gads!! Just checked out the WPRR website, and I am excited!! 2 hours of running a train for $300....pricey, but well worth saving for
